“It’s five o’clock this morning and the sun is on the rise.”

This is a song on the soundtrack of my life. I learned it in high school, yes I’m a huge John Denver fan, and we would sing it on our way to Speech and Debate events because we always had to head out so early. But I always sang it when I had to get up early or as I watched a sunrise.
Goodbye Again is on the Rocky Mountain High Album
I never knew it, but I’m a morning person. I love to get up, get going, and get done. I always tease people that I love to be Catholic. That way I can get up early on Sunday morning, go to church at 8 AM, have breakfast and be back in bed before the Protestants even head to church. I could sleep all day, if I was able to get up early.
I guess that’s why I like being a farmer’s wife (that and the fact that I love the farmer). I love getting up with the sun and if he has a job for me to do early, before its time for me to go to work, then I love working alongside him.
I don’t get to often but this morning he asked me to come to the field while he sprayed fertilizer on his tobacco. I think this is a stupid job for an extra person because you just sit in the truck with the water tank and when he needs to fill up his sprayer your job is to hold the hose while he pumps water into the sprayer. You always get wet and it’s pretty boring. There are days it’s a nuisance but when he asked me to help I knew it wouldn’t be hot and I thought I might get to spend some extra time with him. Plus, I love watching him work (unless he gets mad and then I’d just as soon not be there).
So as I sit in the truck this morning with the sun finally getting to touch my face, I thank God for where He put me in life, and I thank God for the man He gave to me, and I thank God I’m a country girl. (Oh, another John Denver song!)
